“The Atonement” by Shai Linne

“Are you kidding me” those legitimately the words that came from my mouth when I finished this new CD by Shai LInne. Let me explain.

This is one of the most intellegent rap CD’s I have listened to in a long time. Yes, not just christian rap but all rap. Shai Linne does something that I appreciate from all artist he puts time effort and intellect into his art. From the intro to the outro the 19 song album is great. Not only are the songs well thought out, but there are about 4 interludes by prominent pastors and rappers discussing theology. It is hard to pick one song that defines the album, but “The Gospel” is that song. However, “Mission Accomplished, Atonement Q&A, and In Adam All Die” are all worthy contenders.
As you can tell I have nothing, but respect for this CD for both music and theology. If you are looking for a great rap CD with some good rapping and brilliant theologically deep lyrics, then look no further than Shai Linne’s “The Atonement”.

About Justin Bailey

I am currently a student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Starbucks barista, and a part of a great church in Imago Dei. I moved to Wake Forest, NC from Pineville, LA on June 1, 2011 to start school and be a part of the planting process of Imago Dei here in North Raleigh. Most of my musings will be from the vain of one of these three aspects of my life along with other things thrown in there.
